Newcastle’s first ever improv festival is underway and is shining a light on a city with a blossoming improv scene.
Bev Fox from The Suggestibles told The Improv Chronicle Podcast that the festival was probably the result of the group making decisions after a few too many glasses of wine but one that has worked out well.
“We wanted to bring people up that we knew from the south [of the UK] and really put the North East on the map because there’s some really fantastic stuff happening here”
The Suggestibles, who play host and appear in different forms throughout, have brought to Newcastle acts like Suki Webster (of Paul Merton’s Improv Chums) and her show Guest Speaker, Pippa Evans (of Showstoppers! fame), Stella Duffy OBE (who is leading a writer’s masterclass), Dragprov Revue (drag meets improv from Oxford), Jason Perez and Couch (US improv coach and his performance troupe Couch from Glasgow).
Alongside this there are a variety of workshops and, of course, Newcastle’s home-grown improv talent.
